About the Writer

Christopher Sweet is a writer and teacher who completed his teaching career of more than thirty years at a suburban high school near Chicago. He received a B.A. with Honors in English from Northwestern University. He completed an M.A. in English the next year and then went to work. Mid-career he earned an M.S.J. from The Medill School of Journalism, but he returned to his position firm in the conviction that he was needed in education.

He studied writing and the teaching of writing in the Fiction Writing Department of Columbia College, Chicago as a student at large. He has been published in Hair Trigger, Columbia’s literary annual; in Men of Our Time, a poetry anthology from the University of Georgia Press; and in The Journal of the Assembly for Expanded Perspectives on Learning, Winter 2004-2005. In 1999 he was awarded a Certificate of Merit in Experimental Fiction from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association for his parody “Mason The Dean.”

His writing often references other writers through parody of voice and tone, and sometimes literary works, as is the case with “Mason…”
